NEWLY INDUCTED CHILDREN LEARNING BRAILLE IN NURSERY CLASS

Keeping abreast with the time, all students from class VII onwards are taught the use of computer. Students are encouraged to take Informatics Practice as an additional subject in their senior classes. Also attached to the School is the Unit for Children with Multiple Disabilities which caters to the visually challenged children with mild to moderate mental retardation. The unit provides remedial teaching and basic daily living skills to the identified children.

Excellence in Board Examinations: The students have always shown excellent results in CBSE Board examinations. The school is proud that its pass outs join prestigious Colleges in Delhi and many of its alumni are serving in important positions in schools, universities, banks and other establishments.

The academic year 2012-13 concluded with the announcement of Annual School Results on 31 March 2013. The school registered an aggregate pass percentage of 100.

Co-curricular activities: The School provides all the required facilities, support and encouragement to its students to take part in diverse co-curricular activities like dance, music, theater, poetry, debating, eco-club and Rotract Leadership Programmes. Ms. Natasha from Neemrana Music Foundation train junior school students in western Choir. The students are taken to various western Music presentations. An experimental introductory course in Japanese language for a group of students from Class XII, XI and VI was started with the help of the Japan Foundation. Ms.Nozomi Tokuma and Mrs. Nandi, visiting lecturers, worked out and conducted a 6-month course. Teaching Japanese language is now a regular feature. Students from American Embassy School continue their Saturday interaction with students of class V and VI to boost the grasp of spoken English. Besides this, the School facilitates interactive meeting with the overseas DPS students and foreign school teams every year.

JPM SCHOOL STUDENTS LEARNIG DANCE

Violin Recital by Silas and Salonee members of Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. Though a special school, interaction with students of many reputed schools in the nearby area is incorporated as part of upbringing the young. The school facilitates visits of students from other schools and JPM School students put up cultural events on stage in the neighboring schools. The students actively participate in Zonal competitions organized by the Directorate of Education. In addition to this we facilitate friendly matches with students of public schools and other organizations in order to enrich the schooling experience of the students.

SERVICES BY COUNSELLING CELL

The school has got a full time counselor to deal with various issues pertaining to education, career , personality and mental health of the students.The services being provided by the counselor are as follows:

  • Screening of the child at the time of admission so as to ascertain best possible course of action for the child and general counseling of parents.
  • To conduct educational workshops related to various issues of concern for the students viz . hygiene, good health, story telling, personality development, motivation and career counseling.
  • To screen a regular student if his behaviour seems deviating from normal and to arrange for his proper testing to provide him best possible treatment for betterment.
  • To screen multiple disability in special cases and ascertain whether they need to be accommodated in Functional Academic group or Remedial Teaching group.
  • To coordinate different co curricular activities for the students
  • To arrange field visits of the student to specific places for their future progress like visit to Equal Opportunity Cell by 12th to post school life properly.
  • To facilitate special instructors for specific exam requirement of the school students.

Students begin their daily life at 6 a.m. either participating in athletics at Tyag Raj Stadium and Nehru Stadium or yoga in the Gandhi Hall.

House Activities:

The students are divided into four house groups, namely, Basrurker House, Deshmukh House, Bharat Ram House and Nayar House. The Houses take up month-wise responsibility of conducting daily morning assembly and cultural activities in the School. An overall high level of energy and enthusiasm is maintained among the students.

The School is headed by Mr.K.J.Kuriyan, Principal. It has staff strength of 39, including the Principal, Vice Principal, 37 teaching and non-teaching staff.

Unit for Visually Impaired Children with Multiple Disabilities

To cater to the special needs and provide individual care to visually impaired children with mild to moderate mental retardation and for giving remedial teaching to the children studying at primary level of J.P.M. Sr. Sec. School for the Blind, the Blind Relief Association runs special programme under its Unit for Visually Impaired children with Multiple Disabilities.

MULTIPLE DISABILITY STDENTS TRAINED IN VOCATIONAL COURSE

The unit has two full time qualified special teachers and two part time expert teachers in Music and Art and Craft. For the pre and post-school-hour care the unit has one house parent.

In order to make appropriate need based intervention the unit divides the beneficiary children into the following two groups:

  • Functional Academic Group
  • Remedial Teaching Group

Functional Academic Group: The group caters to visually impaired children, having mild mental retardation. These children are trained in functional academics like number concept, money concept, time concept, activities of daily living (ADLS), orientation & mobility, personal hygiene, pre-vocational activities etc. They are not segregated from the regular school. They attended some classes like art and craft, clay modeling, music and physical education etc. together with other children of the school. Thereafter they will be encouraged to continue study in JPM School as fully integrated students or join some suitable vocational programme.

Remedial teaching group: Students weak in certain subjects are guided to attend remedial classes for some time in the special unit and once their subject weakness is addressed, they are guided to attend the routine class teaching.

Sintoo of class 12th participeted in English declamation competition on 4-8-2015 and won third prize.

Legal Cell Lawyer Visit

Mr. Vivek Aggarwal, lawyer from legal cell, patiala house visited the school and discussed about constitutioonal articles pertaining to court cases with the students of class XI and XII on Aug 14, 2015.

Our teacher Manoj Kumar, who is an ex-serviceman from Indian Air Force is giving training of braille to the students of class 1st.
